Writing Family Histories
I have always been fascinated by the transitory property of memory— how we can feel love for family members we have never met, feel nostalgia for a time we have never lived. Like ink bleeding through the chapters of a storybook, memory bleeds through generational borders.
When I was a child, I would listen, enthralled, as my grandparents spun stories about their childhood. As my grandparents grew older, I started to wonder— how could I capture the lure of those stories? How could I string all the fragments of their memories into one linear narrative?
After creating a book with all of my grandparents’ stories, I decided to take my passion for inter-generational memory to help others preserve their life stories for eternity.
